Overview

Blue Mountains Sushi, nestled on the Great Western Highway in Blackheath, offers a refreshing take on sushi dining in the heart of the Blue Mountains. This cosy restaurant specializes in authentic Japanese cuisine, with a focus on fresh, vibrant sushi and comforting hot dishes tailored for both locals and travelers seeking a hearty meal after a day outdoors.

The Mixed Sushi Platter stands out as the restaurant’s signature dish, showcasing an artful selection of nigiri and rolls crafted from quality ingredients that speak of freshness and skill. Complementing this are thoughtfully prepared starters like prawn parcels and dumplings, which provide a delightful contrast of textures and flavors. Soups such as the traditional miso or the more robust seafood variant offer warmth and depth—perfect after a chilly hike or walk through the nearby trails.

The dining space itself, managed by two friendly and attentive ladies, exudes a calm, welcoming atmosphere. While unassuming in appearance, the clean, comfortable interior invites guests to relax and enjoy their meal without distraction. The approachable service and home-made touches, like the freshly pickled ginger served from a pot at the table, add a layer of authenticity and care that’s often missing in larger establishments.

Blue Mountains Sushi appeals especially to visitors exploring the region who crave a genuine, no-fuss sushi experience paired with well-executed Japanese comfort foods. It’s a place where the quality of ingredients and thoughtful preparation meet simplicity and warmth—a true culinary gem in Blackheath, perfect for both quick bites or a quiet, satisfying meal.

Homely, great service and a decent menu at this small Blackheath restaurant. I loved the soft shell crab dish, the pork dumplings were beautifully crispy. The tonkatsu udon could have done with more depth and richness to the broth, but it was quite nice anyway.

If you are in Blackheath, you must head to Blue Mountains Sushi, you'll be pleasantly surprised. It is very clean, comfortable chairs and friendly staff. The super FRESH sushi, crispy prawn dumplings, karaage chicken, pork and rice, miso.. it was all delicious, I must mention the wonderful fresh pickled ginger that was in a pot on the table (not in a tiny sachet) it tasted home-made! Wonderful!

This restaurant in Blackheath is so good. We went to the grand canyon trek and it was freezing. While coming back after the walk obviously starving we found this place. The lady in the restaurant was very polite. We ordered soups, sushi, chicken noodles, prawns and drinks. The flavours, taste, comfort, just perfect for the weather. If you're nearby, this restaurant is worth checking out!

This is a very quiet and peaceful place to look for if you are in search of great Asian food. It doesn't give you very loud welcoming vibes as it looks like it's closed but if u open and ask and they politely seat you. The place was run by two ladies who were very friendly and helpful. We just saw the place and wanted some soup because it was really cold outside and it just fulfilled everything we wanted. We ordered some soup, prawns and noodles. The food was great, service was excellent and the vibe was very quiet and nice. Definitely a recommended place if you visit the blue mountains or blackheath. Well done
